Monday, April 19th, 7-8:30pm via ZOOM & facebook live

The first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970, sparked rapid change with the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts, as well as the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency in the U.S.

Join SYVCA and the Silicon Valley Democratic Club, Sunnyvale Democratic Club to demand climate action and greater protections for our planet.

Learn how you can take action in 2021 in the spirit of our very first Earth Day over 50 years ago! Speakers include Laura Deehan, State Director of Environment California, CEO of Silicon Valley Clean Energy, Girish Balachandran, as well as our very own SVYCA student and youth leaders.

With the historic wildfires we have seen this past year, and recent studies pointing to wildfire smoke as a more harmful pollutant than car exhaust, we think there has never been a more important time to join the fight for our planet. So, come join us to learn about some crucial climate solutions! Register for the ZOOM event here and/or watch the live-stream via Facebook live here.

Special Guest Speakers

Laura Deehan, State Director for Environment California, will discuss how the Biden Administration’s climate plans will affect California, share progress that we’ve made as a state as well as the challenges and opportunities ahead here in California. Girish Balachandran, CEO of Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE), will explain the role that community choice energy providers play in our local community and state level to address climate change. As the Chief Executive Officer of SVCE, Girish Balachandran works to develop and implement strategies empowering the SVCE team and community to achieve its ambitious decarbonization goals.
